Biography
Rod Hampton - Founder & CEO of Basketball Unlimited, Inc. and Head Coach of the Hoop Wizards basketball team is a basketball lifer. Rod has played the game since birth, a high school All-American at Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas, where Jimmy Tubbs, who is now head assistant at SMU, coached him. Rod started three (3) years at SMU ending tops in the conference every year in assists and steals.
After SMU
Rod signed as a free agent with the Dallas Mavericks. After a brief stint in camp, Rod decided to take his talents to Europe, enjoying a modest career in several countries over a six (6) year period. During this time, Rod made a lifetime of relationships with players, coaches, owners, and just people of the world. Rod has been tabbed as a basketball mind -- meaning he knows the fame, but also teaches the game, which is a lost art in the world of coaching.
Well respected
Rod has been offered numerous coaching jobs at various levels. But Rod enjoys coaching young talent, his BCI & AAU teams have held their own on a national level.
The Hoop Wizards is a platform that Rod uses to keep players who have the potential to play on the next level in shape, on tape, and ready to go to a team any time. Hoop Wizards always remember who they play, because one day one of your players might need to be placed overseas and might just become a Hoop Wizard.
